Psalms – Psalm 40

Sunday, August 4: Psalms

Psalm 40

This week we are going to take a look at Psalm 40.

The overarching theme within Psalm 40 is the work of Christ in our waiting. We are called to wait on the Lord, but what does waiting on the Lord even look like? It’s one of those commonly used “christian-ese” phrases that gets tossed around a lot.

The reality is that we live in a very fast-paced society that demands the quickest, most efficient product/event/solution to whatever the issue or deficiency might be. Not only does Christ enter into our messy and often self-destructive lives but he offers peace and security that vastly eclipses anything and everything else. The trick is learning to patently wait on the Lord, and learn to place the focus away from ourselves and onto the person of Jesus as we wait. God does some of His best work with us when we bind ourselves to him and wait on him with expectation.

Join us on Sunday as we talk about what it means to wait.
