Bound by the Spirit – Acts 19 Preview

Sunday, September 29: Bound by the Spirit

Acts 19 Preview

Have you ever felt like you were not up to the task God has given you?

Maybe God recently called you to move. Maybe it’s a job or career change. Maybe you have a child with a special need. Sometimes, God calls us to things that are beyond our capacity.

But when God calls you to something, He always goes with you.

This is Paul’s situation in Acts 19. He’s in the city of Ephesus in the middle of a fruitful ministry to the Gentiles in Greece and Asia. But then God calls him to something different. He says, “I want you to go to Jerusalem and then from there on to Rome.”

No sooner does God call Paul to this new adventure than Paul experiences his first opposition. It happens in Ephesus at the hands of a silversmith guild that accuses him of trying to overturn the whole Greco-Roman religious system. “If Paul had his way,” they say, “no one would worship Artemis. We can’t afford this.” The accusations against Paul set the whole city in an uproar, and the next thing you know, Paul is in the middle of a riot.

But when God calls you to something, He always goes with you. And God was with Paul.

Join us this week as we launch our final sermon series on the Book of Acts, called “Bound by the Spirit.”

See you then!
