Witness – Acts 2:1–47

Sunday, April 22: Witness

Acts 2:1–47

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven
and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated
and came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

ESV Acts 2:1-4

So far in our series we’ve done a lot of waiting. Before his ascension, Jesus instructed the church to wait on the gift that was to come and they have been doing just that. Now, fifty days later, the Holy Spirit falls on the gathered church like a raging wind and a roaring fire. The promised equipping of the Spirit of God engulfs the believers gathered in waiting. But what does that mean for us today?

Join us this week as we explore the significance of Pentecost, and what it means for us today. One of the exciting, and sometimes confusing, aspects of the Holy Spirit is that it’s difficult to nail down. Who gets gifts? Why do we get them? Why did Jesus tell the church to wait for this gift?

Join us this Sunday as we answer some of the big questions about the gift of the Holy Spirit given to the Church.
