Signs – John 10:22–33

Sunday, March 5: Signs

John 10:22–33

As Jesus continues to preach and teach in the temple, our passage this week finds him talking with some very direct folks. They ask him point blank, “Are you the Messiah?”

Jesus responds with a reminder, as well as a response; “I already told you, and the answer is still yes.” Jesus continues by explaining to the people gathered why they’re having a hard time hearing him, and it’s because they’re not his sheep and they’re not his people.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re one of Jesus’ people, having that called into question can be an anxiety-producing situation. There is no special badge that we get, no hat, or mark that we can point to that designates us as “official Christians” but in this passage, Jesus does explain a few things that are indicators as to who his people are.

The people confronted with the news that they’re not where they need to be don’t take it well. They reject the suggestion that they might not be in the right, and instead of asking how to better hear Jesus, they turn to violence.

Join us this Sunday as we talk about following Jesus, being attentive to his voice, and how we can know we’re listening to the right voices in our lives.

See you Sunday!

Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
