The Parables – Matthew 13:47–50

Sunday, November 21: The Parables

Matthew 13:47–50

Here are a few questions that you can introduce around the Thanksgiving table this year that will save you money on Christmas gifts next month:

“What do you think of the governor?”
“Who do you think is going to hell?”

Famously, the two topics that you aren’t supposed to bring up at a party are religion and politics, but it seems that Jesus did not agree. During his earthly ministry, Jesus brought up the reality of eternal judgement constantly, both in his preaching and in his parables.

Our parable this week addresses the reality that there will be a day of judgement. Jesus doesn’t shy away from that reality and neither should we. But we’re also given some perspective on that final judgement in that it won’t be us doing the judging. So what does it look like for us to be a people who are aware of future judgement, but not judging other people’s futures?

Join us this week as we read through the parable of the dragnet.

See you Sunday!

Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
