Find God. Be a Friend. Make a Difference.

Samuel – 1 Samuel 16:1–13

Sunday, March 20: Samuel

1 Samuel 16:1–13

The way things look on the outside isn’t always how they appear the whole way through. If you’ve ever bitten into a piece of fruit that wasn’t quite as fresh as it looked, or stepped on a patch of ice that wasn’t quite firm enough to bear your weight, you know what this can be like.

We make our best estimations, based on what we can perceive, but even this practice nets diminishing returns. We’re all aware of the ways that we can be misled (or mislead others), or even be outright deceived (or deceive others).

In chapter 16, we’re reminded that God is not bound by our perceptions, does not fall prey to the deceptions we project, and instead sees to the heart.

It’s this same God who gives us King David, even when he doesn’t look like the king Israel expected, and later gives us the perfect king, Jesus, even when he doesn’t look like the king we expected.

Join us this week as we consider the ways that God looks beyond appearance, sees our need, and provides beyond our expectations.

See you Sunday!

Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
