Joel 3:1-16

If you’ve ever been caught slacking off or cutting corners at work, you know it’s not a great feeling. If you get caught by your boss’ supervisor it’s even worse. Continue up the chain and your day just gets worse and worse.

But if the CEO or the founder of a huge multi-national corporation were to catch you putting your recyclables in the trash and stopped their work to hold you accountable for it, you might just be strangely honored by the interaction. You might even tell the story of it to your friends. Even though you were in trouble, in some ways it’s nice to know that you matter enough to correct.

As we continue through the book of Joel, we’ve moved through desolation, into the call to repentance, and then to see the mercy of God. This week we’ll see that the God of the universe also notices, and holds to account, the people who pursue evil. The injustices done against God’s people won’t be ignored or remain unaddressed, and there will be a day when justice is delivered.

It can be rightly frightening to consider the consequences to sin, but it’s also an honor to know that the God of all creation has chosen to be personally interested in us. And even though we have acted as God’s enemies, God has put into place a plan of redemption for us.

Join us as we consider God’s attentiveness to us, and his response to evil.

See you Sunday!

Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
