John 16:16–33

Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”

It can be easy to forget that we have extremely small imaginations in the scope of what God considers possible. The apple that falls to the ground and rots may seem like a waste, but in the economy of God it can instead be planted. Shattered glass can become a mosaic, iron put through the furnace can come out as steel, and even death can result in an abundance of life.

In our passage this week, Jesus explains to his disciples that they will experience deep sorrow in the days to come. They will weep, they will feel lost and confused, but on the other side of that seeming end is the beginning of something greater than they could even imagine.

Despite the pain they will soon experience, and despite the lack of faith that Jesus knows that they will demonstrate, there is an eternal joy on the other side of this temporary sadness.

Join us this week as we talk about the hope we have in Jesus’ finished work on the cross. See you Sunday!
Service times are at 9:00 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
