Living Stones – 1 Peter 1:13–25

 Sunday, April 10: Living Stones

1 Peter 1:13–25

So far in the book of 1 Peter we’ve heard some strong theological reminders about who we are in Christ, and the hope we have in Jesus. Peter gave us some good reasons for our hope, and this week he’s turning the corner with a “therefore…”

It’s the same sort of thing as, “Since you know there’s gravity, this is how we act at the edge of a cliff.”

“Since we know how the stove works, this is what we do when the burners are on.”

“Since we know that the monkeys don’t like visitors, we will stay on this side of the fence at the zoo.”

You get the idea.

Since we know who Jesus is, this is who we will be. Since we know that we have been adopted into the family of God, this is what it means to be in that family. Since we aren’t a part of the household that we used to be a part of and we’re now outsiders who demonstrate by contrast who Jesus is, here’s how we go about living our life.

And in very short order we figure out that we’re called to be like Jesus. To actually live like Jesus, and not settle for a “thoughts and prayers” or “good vibes and a thumbs up” type of life.

Join us this Sunday as we consider what it means for us to live like we’re a part of the family of God. See you Sunday!

Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
