Kingdom Ethics – Stewardship

Sunday, August 22: Kingdom Ethics

Stewardship

There are any number of words that have a particular meaning in Christian culture, and could even be considered “Christianese.”

Guard your heart is very different than bless your heart (ask a southerner). A hedge of protection is not a gardening term, and washed in the blood does not require a bath afterwards (maybe a baptism though).

Similarly, “Stewardship” has a particular meaning to the followers of Jesus.

We hear these terms in context enough that they eventually become clear, or at least clear-ish. The danger of our context-specific language is first, it’s confusing to “outsiders” and second, we can settle for a “clear-ish” understanding that doesn’t explore the full depth of the term.

Stewardship is almost a required term in any sermon on finances, but that’s just one aspect of role and the task that we are invited to live into as followers of Jesus.

Join us as we explore the role of a steward, what it means for us today, and how very counter-cultural the context of Kingdom Stewardship is. See you Sunday!

Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
