Habakkuk 1: 5-11

God Answers Habakkuk’s Prayer  Last week we saw Habakkuk crying out to God for a response to his prayers.

“How long do I have to cry out for help before You listen?”

“How many times do I have to yell, ‘Help! Murder! Police!’ before You come to the rescue?

Anarchy, violence, quarrels, and fights are going on all over the place, and nothing seems to be done about it.  In the first four verses, Habakkuk is desperate for an answer from God. He looks at his country and its leadership and sees violence, strife, and contention. The law on which the country was based is ignored, and justice is perverted by the wicked.

“How long do I have to cry out for help before You listen?”  Then God answers: “Habakkuk, you'd better sit down for this.”  Which leads us to ask: If God answered every one of our prayers, would we still call it “good news”?
