Habakkuk Intro- 1:1-4

This Sunday we’ll embark on a nine-week series on the Old Testament book of Habakkuk. Though it is classified as one of the Minor Prophets—only three chapters long—Habakkuk had a major influence on the New Testament and is quoted in Romans, Galatians, and Hebrews. The book also contains one of the most impactful prayers in all of Scripture, as well as a brutally honest dialogue with God.  In this first excerpt, we’ll ground ourselves in the historical context of Habakkuk and examine the first four verses. We’ll stand alongside the prophet amidst the deteriorating Southern Kingdom of Judah as he asks, “Where are You, God? Who’s in control here?”
