Christ At The Crossroads - Temptation

About the time Jesus turned 30, he shut the door on the carpenter shop for the last time, hugged his family goodbye and headed for the Jordan River. He knew that he would find a prophet there who was preparing the way for his public ministry. Who would set his feet on the path that would ultimately lead to the cross.
SOMEONE, however, was not real happy about that. A cosmic outlaw, fallen angelic creature named Satan, a.k.a., the Devil, who evidently knows where this is going. He has a pretty good idea that things will not end well for him if Jesus completes his mission.
While we cannot know how hopeful he was that he would succeed, we do know that he was desperate enough to attempt to derail Jesus from his path to the cross. So, immediately following Jesus’ baptism and before he goes public (so to speak), the Adversary tries to detour Jesus at the crossroad of temptation.
