Girl Church, Girl Project

A Note From Emily-

Some things are so very easy to say "yes" to!

Such was the case when our own Grace Maina asked me if there was any way that Women's Ministries would partner with her for a special project in honor of her aunt Deborah, who passed away last May.

As her last days were drawing near, Aunt Deborah asked Grace if she would see through to fruition a plan to provide feminine care products to the women in their homeland of Kenya. Grace has done mission work like this before, and her aunt entrusted her with this last request. Grace has invited us to join her!

The more I learn about "period poverty," as it is called, the more I feel honored to serve our sisters in Kenya this way! It's not very hard to put myself in their shoes - honestly, I can't fill up my Costco cart fast enough when I think about it! I'm hoping you feel the same way, because we have an ambitious goal: 6 months of feminine products for 500 women! Be sure to watch the video below to hear Grace describe the heart of Deborah's Mission.

We are hoping to achieve this goal two ways. The first is by shipping pads and panty donations from you directly to Kenya for distribution to the  Maasai women. Research shows that 92% of adolescent Kenyan girls prefer disposable pads, likely because 55% of adolescent Kenyan girls don't have access to clean water and soap at school. You can drop off donations at BF or purchase from our Amazon Wishlist and have it shipped directly to us! The second way is through an organization called Days for Girls. There is a local chapter in Nairobi, and you can learn more about them here. We will use your donations to purchase as many menstruation kits as possible. The cost of one kit is about $10. While Girl Project is associated with Girl Church, we hope that you'll consider donating whether you can attend or not (we will miss you though)! Be sure to select "Combat Period Poverty" from the drop-down menu when giving. Our packing & ship date is October 24th, so don't hesitate to give!

Amani na neema (peace and grace),
