Bolivia Community-to-Community (C2C)

In 2010, Believers Fellowship embarked on a ten-year Community-to-Community (C2C) relationship with Ushpa Ushpa, Bolivia through Food for the Hungry (FH). Ushpa Ushpa is a periurban area on the outskirts of Cochabamba.

The C2C relationship has 4 components: serving, giving, connecting, and educating.

To serve, we have committed to sending at least 1 short-term team to Uspa Uspa every year for the duration of the C2C. We also have a team of advocates who promote child sponsorship in our church and in our community.

To give, we have committed to sponsoring 20 more children in Ushpa Ushpa every year for the duration of the 10-year C2C. We have also committed to completing 10 projects (one per year), each identified by the community as a great need. In 2010, we constructed an outdoor meeting space to be used by FH's child development coalition for community events. We also donated 2 computers. In 2011, we spearheaded a clean-water initiative in the community, bringing 200 water filters to Ushpa Ushpa and teaching them about clean water practices. In 2012, we will be constructing a childcare center in Ushpa Ushpa that will provide a safe place for kids to do homework, play, and just be kids.

To connect, we keep in touch with field workers in Ushpa Ushpa, praying for their ministry and receiving updates on their work. Several FH workers from Bolivia have spoken at Believers Fellowship on poverty, God's plan for the poor, and how we can help Ushpa Ushpa.

To educate, we keep the C2C in front of the congregation throughout the year. From sermons on poverty to small groups on development, we consistently communicate the importance of the C2C and FH's work.
